Man arrested after police chase ends in crash in Miamisburg

MIAMISBURG — A man is in custody after a police chase ended in a crash in Miamisburg on Thursday, according to the Franklin Division of Police.

Around 7:11 p.m., Middletown police told Franklin police that they were chasing a stolen black Chevrolet Impala and heading into their city.

The driver has since been identified as Juan Harris, 31, of Dayton.

A Franklin officer near the intersection of Sixth Street and Anderson Street saw the stolen car run a red light at a high rate of speed.

Harris continued north on Anderson Street and passed the police department, the division said.

He then turned west on Fourth Street before heading north on Riley Boulevard while running several red lights.

The officer tried to catch up to the car as it went into the City of Miamisburg.

Harris hit a car after running the red light at the intersection of First Street and Linden Avenue around 7:20 p.m., the division said.

The Chevrolet then hit a parked, unoccupied car before coming to a stop in the middle of First Street.

Harris got out of the car and ran.

He eventually jumped into the Great Miami River, but Miamisburg police were able to get him out, the division said.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The division said Harris is expected to be charged with obstructing official business and failure to comply. He also had an active warrant for driving under suspension.

He will later be booked into the Warren County Jail.

The driver who was hit at First Street and Linden Avenue was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

This crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
