Major changes are coming to Starbucks and it may mean that you may not be able to get some of your favorite items.
Officials with the coffee cafe chain said it is going to simplify the menu, reduce wait times and improve the customer experience, CNN reported.
CEO Brian Niccol said that there will be a “roughly 30% reduction in both beverages and food,” without saying specifically what would go away.
He also didn’t say exactly when the items would go away, only that he wanted the reduction in place by the end of the 2025 fiscal year, or by June 30, USA Today reported.
He had said in the past that the choices customers had were “overly complex” and caused long lines.
Changes have already been made with Starbucks removing olive oil-based drinks and iced energy drinks and adding a new espresso-based drink the cortado and its pistachio-flavored drinks.
The company also brought back the condiment bar and free refills on certain products while removing the extra charge for nondairy milk, USA Today reported.
“Over the past four months, we’ve been focused on getting Back to Starbucks and those things that have always set us apart, a welcoming coffeehouse where people gather and where we serve the finest coffee handcrafted by our skilled baristas,” he said on Tuesday, according to USA Today.
Niccol, who became CEO in September, also wants the company to be more responsive to viral trends, what he called “cultural moments” as illustrated by the Dubai Matcha drink, CNN reported.
Despite the viral beverages, Starbucks has had four consecutive quarters of declines.
