Our Storm Center 7 team of meteorologists is monitoring both snow systems closely including the possible winter storm by this weekend. They will break down the timing, track, and expected impacts LIVE today on News Center 7 Daybreak at 4:25 a.m.

TRENDING STORIES:

TIMING:

Light snow likely .5 to 2″ will fall Thursday night into early Friday morning during Daybreak.

This will cause slick and snow-covered roads where roads remain untreated. Snow will arrive after 10 p.m. and end by 7 a.m. for most.

A significant winter storm is possible if not likely, late Sunday through Monday.

Snow should be the main precipitation type locally. It is a little too early to talk specific numbers, but the potential exists for several inches of snow with the heaviest snow falling across the southern half of the region.

IMPACTS:

Difficult travel is likely. Road crews may not catch up until after the snow ends late Monday.

The worst travel conditions will occur late Sunday night through early Monday morning due to heavy snow and reduced visibility.

Another concern we have is for some ice to creep into the Miami Valley thanks to a layer of warmer air aloft.

That would cut down on snowfall totals, but, models are still trying to hone in on exact details.

Still some uncertainty in the specific storm track. Shifts north or south will change where the axis of heaviest snow sets up.

It appears unlikely however that we miss out on snow at this point.
