The shooting happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. on N. Garland Avenue in Dayton.
Major Brian Johns, with Dayton Police, said Wednesday that a 15-year-old boy was shot multiple times and ran to Washington Park.

News Center 7 spoke to a woman at the scene who said she saw two kids running diagonally across the park when one dropped. She said she then ran to help.
“I yelled for everybody around to grab me a belt and some sort of cloth of any kind, and I put pressure on his gunshot wound and held it there as tight as I could,” Betty London said. “He thought he was going to die.”
The teen was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition, according to Johns.
Police immediately started searching for the shooter.
“Thanks to our Flock cameras that we have here in Dayton, we were able to identify a white Toyota vehicle leaving the scene,” Johns said.
As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, Kettering Police spotted the Toyota a short time later and arrested the driver.
Police would not identify the suspect because he has not been formally charged, but online jail records show 20-year-old Brayan Banda was booked on felonious assault after being stopped on Stroop Road in Kettering.
The suspect was found with a high-powered 5.7 gun, which Johns said was a “rare” gun that they don’t see very often.
“It’s a very dangerous weapon,” Johns said. “It differs from primarily like a regular handgun in that it will defeat body armor of a police officer.”
