In a letter, New Carlisle Elementary Principal Kathryn Randenburg announced students would return to the classroom on Monday, Sept. 28.
As reported on News Center 7 Daybreak, Randenburg added in her letter that some temporary changes will be going into effect.
Students in grades two, three, and four will return to New Carlisle Elementary in the North part of the building that has been cleaned and inspected.
Fifth-grade students will hold classes at Medway Elementary School.
The process for these students will be similar to how they would handle school field trips, the letter said.
Fifth-grade students will be dropped off and picked up from New Carlisle Elementary, but will be bussed to Medway Elementary for classes.
Jaxon Swasey is a fifth-grade student in the district. He said he was nervous about heading to a different building for school, but he is excited to see his friends.
Swasey soaked up not having almost two weeks of school.
“You got to do anything!” he said.
A parent with daughters at New Carlisle Elementary said he thought his girls would be out of school much longer.
“Hopefully it doesn’t affect other grades too badly; my girls love school, so it’s kind of interesting,” said Anthony Wiley.
Students will not have to make up any of the days that were missed due to the district having 10 calamity days built into the calendar.
