DAYTON — A protest was held in downtown Dayton Sunday. People gathered to speak out against the increase in ICE raids and the recent crackdown on immigration.

Around 100 people gathered near Main Street Sunday afternoon, saying they want to bring back unity. News Center 7′s Malik Patterson hears from the protestors LIVE on News Center 7 at 11.

There were flags of at least 8 different countries being flown during the protest. The group of protestors say they just want equality and for the ICE raids to stop.

People across the Miami Valley decided to share how they felt, saying they shouldn’t have to live in fear.
“There should be no reason that kids in school should be scared to go to school,” Megan Smith, organizer of the event, said. “They need to keep immigration and politics out of our education system as well. Just leave the kids alone.”
Smith said she will be organizing another protest soon. She wants more of the community to stand united.
