Banks said officers initially responded to a trespassing complaint at an abandoned property on the street.
Police found several squatters inside the building. One person ran away from police with a pit bull.
Banks said officers began chasing the suspect.
“Once they closed the gap, he released the dog and the dog came after the officers. Officers fired a couple of times at the dog, the dog was not hit,” Banks said.
The dog retreated after officers fired shots and the suspect ran into a nearby detached garage.
Banks said there was a woman inside the garage at the time. She didn’t know the suspect.
The suspect came out of the garage about 10 minutes later and was taken into custody.
Montgomery County ARC responded to the scene and took the dog, according to Banks.
“He’s facing a slew of charges at this point, including attempted felonious assault and possibly abduction.” Banks said.
No one was injured in this incident.
