TROY — Careflight was called to a deadly house fire in Troy Wednesday morning.

Around 8:21 a.m. crews were called to the 20 block of Westbrook Lane in Troy on reports of a house fire.

A Miami County Dispatcher confirmed that Careflight was called to the scene after a person was pulled from the fire. According to the fire department, the person later died at the hospital.
The fire department found “smoking materials” and medical oxygen equipment at the scene of the fire, and say one of the leading causes of fire-related deaths is smoking.
Fire crews from Troy, Piqua, Elizabeth Township and Covington helped to put out the fire, according to the dispatcher.
