CEDARVILLE — A local university is mourning the loss of a student among those presumed dead after an Army helicopter collided with an American Airlines flight near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport near Washington D.C. Wednesday night.

As previously reported by News Center 7, the university identified the student as Grace Maxwell, 20, a mechanical engineering major.
She returned home to Wichita, Kansas to attend her grandfather’s funeral, the university said.
“Our hearts are broken,” the university said in a letter to the Cedarville family. “Grace was a resident of Maddox Hall and known to be a thoughtful, quiet student leader.”
Cedarville students are feeling the weight of this loss.
“We are thankful that as a student body, we’re able to pray for their families and just support them in any way we can,” said Abigail Reinhard.
Cedarville President will address the student body this morning at 10 a.m.
