As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00, Jillian Miles was murdered in her home 12 years ago on Feb. 19, 2013.

TRENDING STORIES:

Dawn Miles, Jillian’s mother, spent $500 on a billboard at the intersection of Main Street and Parkwood Drive to help bring attention to the case.

“I want them to know that she existed and that she was their mom and she was part of their life,” Dawn said.

Dawn describes her daughter as a social butterfly who wore motherhood like a badge.

The Dayton Police Department Homicide Unit still doesn’t know why Jillian was murdered or who did it.

“Nothing was taken. There was money in her wallet. The kids were there. They left the kids, they didn’t hurt the dog. They just hurt my daughter,” Dawn said.

Dayton homicide detectives are reviewing Miles’ case for the second time. The last review was in 2017.

Retired DPD homicide unit sergeant Gary White took on Miles’ case a year and a half ago.

“There are advancements that have been made through technology and processing that have been just leaps and bounds from even 2017 and 2018,” White said.

As time went on, new people moved into Miles’ neighborhood.

Dawn hopes the billboard will bring in new information.

“I was hoping with this in mind that they will see it and say, ‘Hey, I thought I heard something about that. Maybe I can give you them a call,’” Dawn said.

Dawn has been searching for answers for the past 12 years, all while taking care of Jillian’s two children.

She said the kids are healthy and thriving but she wishes Jillian could watch them grow up.
