At the request of Vice President-Elect and Middletown native JD Vance, Middletown’s marching band and cheerleaders will perform in Monday’s presidential parade.

Nearly 160 band members, cheerleaders, staff, and chaperones left Middletown around 6 a.m. on Sunday.

Deputies with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and Middletown police officers will escort the band to Washington D.C., according to a post from the sheriff’s office.

The Middletown Musical Arts Club said the marching band will be one of seven performing in the parade.

Their performance will include two songs with the band and cheerleaders marching as a unit.

Students previously told News Center 7 that they’re looking forward to hitting the nation’s capital during Inauguration Day and making their presence felt.

The band received more than $170,000 in private and state funding to make the trip.

Students, faculty, and chaperones will return to Middletown on Tuesday.

News Center 7 will continue to follow this story.
