Adam Uchyn, 41, was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison on Thursday for the deaths of Michelle Phipps, 63, and James Donnelly, 57, according to Darke County Common Pleas Court records. He will also have to register as a Violent Offender

Phipps and Donnelly were stabbed to death in a home in the 4200 block of Weavers-Fort Jefferson Road on April 13, 2023.
As previously reported by News Center 7, Darke County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the home around 6:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, deputies met Uchyn in the driveway. He claimed to live there and to have made the call.
He had filed a report alleging a theft and assault had occurred at the address, and the perpetrator had left the scene.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office said it was a ruse to prevent deputies from discovering the murders that had likely occurred.
Investigators now believe the 911 caller was Phipps. The call abruptly ended with only the address provided by the caller.
Dispatchers attempted to call the number back, but there was no answer, according to a previous News Center 7 report.
Two women reported the homicide to the sheriff’s office on April 14 just before 5 a.m.
As previously reported by News Center 7, deputies went back out to the house and found Phipps and Donnelly dead.
Uchyn was taken into custody on a felony probation warrant unrelated to the homicide in Chicago.
He was eventually extradited back to Ohio and booked into the Darke County Jail.
Since his sentencing, Uchyn has been transferred to the Correctional Reception Center in Pickaway County.
Uchyn’s expected release date and eligibility for parole is April 12, 2053, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
