On Dec. 30, a woman called Springfield police and reported that her vehicle was shot at.
The woman told police that she was going south on S. Limestone Street when the vehicle in front of her stopped abruptly, causing her to hit her brakes. At that point, she noticed the driver of the vehicle behind her, later identified as Victoria, was “extremely agitated,” according to a probable cause affidavit originally filed in Clark County Municipal Court.
She turned off S. Limestone Street to try and get away from the vehicle behind her, but it continued to follow her.
“While traveling back toward S. Limestone she heard gunshots and realized her vehicle was being shot at,” detectives wrote in court documents.
Police were later able to identify Victoria’s car on a Flock camera. A day later, police found the car and conducted a traffic stop on it. Victoria was detained and police were made aware of a firearm in the car.
During an interview with police, Victoria initially denied being in the area when the shots were fired. When he was confronted with images from the Flock cameras, he then told police that he was involved in a crash and followed the other vehicle because he thought it was leaving the scene.
“He then said he let his anger get the best of him and stated there were 3-4 shots fired,” court documents stated. “He also admitted that the gun in the vehicle was the firearm used during the incident.”
Police also found messages on his phone about the shooting and the minor damage to his car that he was able to buff out and fix.
Victoria remains booked in the Clark County Jail. He’s scheduled to appear in court next for his arraignment on Jan. 16.
