Man arrested after guns, vehicles found during search in Moraine, police say

MORAINE — Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated guns found during the police search were stolen. Moraine police said the guns were in fact “illegally possessed” and not stolen.

An investigation in Moraine started with a search for drugs, but led to the discovery of much more.

As News Center 7 previously reported, on March 7, Moraine officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 5000 block of Pinnacle Road.

“Predominantly they were looking for methamphetamine and related contraband,” Sgt. Andrew Parish with Moraine Police Department said.

But the search took a turn because of what police say they found next.

TRENDING STORIES:

“They ended up finding firearms that would have been illegally possessed and some other what they determined to be stolen property. Specifically vehicles and vehicle parts,” Parish said.

So police had to go back to a judge to amend their warrants and continue their search.

We could see police talking to a man in handcuffs at the search on Friday.

Parish said that man was John B. Adams, he lives at the home.

“He’s been a long time resident. Yes. He’s had our attention before,” Parish said.

Police arrested Adams on several outstanding warrants.

Police said he’s a felon so cannot legally own the guns they found at his property.

Right now, Adams is being held in jail on those warrants, as police continue their weapons and stolen property investigations.

Police said so far they have found stolen items from across Montgomery County.

“I believe one of the vehicles was taken out of Oakwood. Another from the northern part of the county, Butler Township, I believe, somewhere in that area,” Parish said.

Police said they also found suspected meth during their search.

While Adams is not in jail in connection with their current investigation, once the police’s investigation is finished, they will ask the prosecutor to approve more charges.

We will continue to follow this story.
