DARKE COUNTY — A man was arrested after fleeing from police and a search of his vehicle, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy located a suspicious vehicle in the 7300 block of Painter Creek Arcanum Road. The vehicle parked on the roadway with its lights off, when the deputy pulled up to the vehicle, the suspect took off on foot, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputy was able to catch the suspect, the sheriff’s office says.
A deputy with a K9 arrived on the scene and searched the suspect’s vehicle, the sheriff’s office says. The K9 located a bags that deputies believe contained methamphetamine and cocaine, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies also found drug paraphernalia and an open bottle of alcohol in the car, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies also found a bag of suspected cocaine on the suspect, the sheriff’s office says.
Jason Landis, 45, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence, obstructing official business and OVI, the sheriff’s office says.
Landis is being held in the Darke County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
