Logan County resident Trixie Huddleston said people are still trying to get on their feet, including her coworker’s family, the Pickeys.

“They had lost everything. Had lost everything and we thought that they were getting the help, because you hear, you know, things are, you know that they’re getting the help that they need or at least you think so. And when I checked up on them, that wasn’t quite the story that we got,” Huddleston said.

Michael Pikey was inside his trailer at Midway Trailer Parker when a tornado destroyed it in March.

He survived and now his family is trying to start over, but it’s been hard with the winter weather.

“The whole wall was caved in, ceiling was ripped out,” Michael said.

“There was things in there like from our dead parents and grandpa, Mike’s grandfathers, his like toolbox and stuff like that was there, all of that was gone and so you will never get those things back,” Patricia Pikey said.

Michael said the trailer park was closed after the tornado due to the debris.

“I was walking bags of our clothes, everything I could probably a quarter mile away in bags, just so we could get something,” he said.

Once it reopened, Michael went to see if he could salvage any of their stuff.

“When we showed up, I mean, it was just leveled. It was gone. They dozed it and cleaned them up and everything,” Michael said.

“I lost everything from a measuring cup to my socks. So we have nothing,” Patricia said.

Since the tornadoes, they’ve been cooped up in a camper. They’ve been using space heaters and a propane furnace to stay warm.

“It’s expensive, it’s very expensive, but it stays warm,” Pikey said. “But now we’re running into the water issue, where we’re out of water, the lines are frozen, so actually, I’m gonna get them a hotel room tonight because they’ve all been so sick.”

Michael said it’s hard to tell people what his family needs because they don’t have a place to store it.

The family is looking for a new home, but said it’s hard to start over.
