Loaded handgun found in student’s locker at Ohio high school

CINCINNATI, Ohio — A loaded handgun was found in a student’s locker at an Ohio high school on Wednesday, according to our media partners WCPO-9 TV.

North College Hill High School and Middle School were placed on lockdown after the school resource officer was made aware of the firearm.

Staff members found a loaded Glock 17 while searching the high school student’s locker.

The firearm was in the student’s backpack, according to WCPO-9.

Police said the student was a juvenile male, but would not share his identity.

K9 officers searched the entire high school, and the lockdown was lifted just after 1 p.m.

No other weapons were found on campus.

The student was arrested on carrying a concealed weapon, inducing panic, and illegal possession of a deadly weapon on school premises charges, WCPO-9 reported.

“All students and staff are safe, and we will resume our regular schedule,” North College Hill City School District Superintendent Eugene Blalock Jr. said on social media. “The North College Hill teachers and staff are dedicated to ensuring our students’ safety and creating an environment for students to continue to learn at a high level.”

North College Hill police said crews from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Cincinnati Police Department, University of Cincinnati police and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office helped search the school grounds.
