At least 4 more area Frisch’s locations closing soon

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — There’s new legal trouble for Frisch’s restaurants as more locations are facing court-ordered evictions in the next two weeks.

On Tuesday, lawyers for NNN Reit, LP, the landlord for more than 60 Frisch’s locations in the Dayton and Cincinnati areas, asked a magistrate for eviction orders for restaurants in Kettering, Miami Twp., Huber Heights, and Englewood.

The court granted the request.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, the request from NNN Reit in Montgomery County is part of a larger court case brought by the company.

NNN Reit bought dozens of Frisch’s buildings in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas in 2015. Frisch’s has been leasing the buildings to run the restaurants there. In court documents,

NNN Reit says Frisch’s has fallen behind on rent at the 65 locations it leases from the company and owes them more than $4.5 million in back rent.

The debt and the resulting closures are worrisome for customers and workers.

“Job stability is hard in this economy. It’s very sad to see these workers that count on having these jobs, especially through the holiday months, and not have that not know where to go next and with very little notice,” Tom House, of Dayton, said.

The closures are also disappointing for customers since the restaurant chain has had such a long legacy in the Miami Valley.

“We don’t like it. You know, we like Frisch’s. I mean, this is a landmark,” Peggy Leiffer, of Kettering, said.

Frisch’s did not have lawyers in court on Tuesday. News Center 7 has reached out repeatedly, including today, but has not heard back from corporate leaders on the closures.
