1 dead after officer-involved shooting in Piqua neighborhood

PIQUA — Police are investigating a deadly shooting that involved an officer in a Piqua neighborhood, according to police.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, the shooting happened at a home on McKinley Avenue just south of U.S. 36 just before 5 p.m. Friday.

Officers on the scene confirmed to News Center 7′s Malik Patterson officers shot and killed a person inside the home.

The person who was killed was a 44-year-old man, according to a press release from Piqua police. The police officer who fired the shots was not injured, officers said.

The press release states that officers were called to the scene on reports of domestic violence.

Piqua police say there is no threat to the community at this time.

Officers ask anyone with additional information to contact the Piqua Police Department. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Miami County Coroner have also been requested, according to Piqua police.
