Joe Burrow breaks 2 team records as Bengals beat Titans

NASHVILLE, TN — Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow broke two team records in a 37-27 win over the Tennessee Titans Sunday afternoon.

He threw three first-half touchdowns at Nissan Stadium in Nashville to set a new team record with 36 touchdown passes.

It is also the sixth straight game Burrow has at least three scoring tosses.

The Bengals also forced six turnovers.

Cincinnati improves to 6-8 overall.

Luke Gifford intercepted Burrow on the game’s second play and led to a Tennessee touchdown. Cincinnati responded on Chase Brown’s six-yard touchdown catch to tie the game at 7-7.

The Titans answered with a 40-yard catch by former Bengal Tyler Boyd. It led to a one-yard touchdown run Tyjae Spears to reclaim the advantage, 14-7, after one.

The Bengals took control in the second quarter. They recovered a fumble which led to a game-tying touchdown pass from Burrow to defensive end Sam Hubbard. This was Hubbard’s first reception and third career touchdown.

Cameron Taylor-Britt’s interception gave the Bengals the ball just past midfield with just under two minutes left. Three players later, Burrow went deep and found Tee Higgins for a 38-yard touchdown pass to put Cincinnati ahead for good, 21-14.

Mike Hilton intercepted Will Levis on Tennessee’s next drive. It led to Cade York’s 21-yard-field goal to extend the lead to 24-14 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Geno Stone picked off Levis. He returned it 39 yards for a touchdown to expand it to 31-14.

Mason Rudolph replaced Levis but Jordan Battle recovered Tony Pollard’s fumble. Battle looked like he was going to score but lost control of the ball into the end zone. It resulted in a touchback.

Chase Brown capped Cincinnati’s day with a five-yard touchdown run with 1:09 remaining.

The Bengals will host Cleveland on Dec. 22 at Paycor Stadium.

Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
