Holly Days returning to Dayton after nearly 30 years

DAYTON — It has been almost 30 years since the Holly Days festivities have been seen at the Dayton Arcade, but they are back this year.

Megan Dunn, Arcade Community Manager, told News Center 7′s Mike Campbell said she hopes bringing the festivities back for the first time since 1993 will start new traditions for families in the area.

“It kind of skipped a couple of generations,” Dunn said. “So we are real excited to have people that remember Holly Days and remember the fun to bring back their families and start a new tradition.”

Holly Days will take place Dec. 7-9, for five hour blocks each day with local vendors, festivities and food.

“We encourage people to shop local this holiday season,” Dunn said. “Dayton has a lot of great artists and we are happy to show them off.”

Bill Perry, Culture Works Development Director, told News Center 7 that Contemporary Dayton will have their museum space and gift shop, as well as some basement portions of the building, open to the public.

“We want to make sure its not just a shopping experience, but a community engagement experience,” Perry said.

While the event, which is free, will not look exactly like it did 30 years ago, organizers said the 2021 twist on Holly Days will be a great opportunity to create new memories.
