Elyria Police were called to an apartment on Monday night for a welfare check. While there, they found Donte Jamar Parker II hiding inside the apartment, police shared in a release on social media.

Parker was taken into custody for outstanding felony warrants but ran off from police while being escorted from his apartment.

TRENDING STORIES:

On Tuesday, police obtained surveillance video showing Parker toward a wooded area near the Black River. This led to a second, thorough search along the riverbank.

Teams even rappelled down the hillside for closer inspection of the river and riverbank, but search efforts were suspended temporarily due to safety reasons.

The search continued on Wednesday. While the ice coverage of the river was deemed too hazardous for rescue boats, emergency personnel continued to search the waterline and surrounding riverbanks on foot and with drones.

At this time, Parker has still not been located.

On Thursday, Captain Lantz released the below statement to WOIO, a CBS affiliate in Cleveland:

“The Elyria Police Department remains committed to locating Donte Parker and will continue to pursue all investigative leads. We appreciate your continued interest, and if any significant developments occur, we will be sure to share that information.”

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Larson at (440) 326-1211. Anonymous tips can be submitted at www.cityofelyria.org/tips.
