The sheriff’s office has identified the father as Daniel H. Davis, 54, of Union Township. He did not survive his injuries and died at Miami Valley Hospital.
An initial investigation indicates that the shooting was a result of an argument between the father and his son.
Chief Deputy Steve Lord told News Center 7 Monday night that the suspect called 911, and told dispatchers that he shot a family member.
“There was a 911 call regarding somebody asserting that they had shot a family member, and then walked to the end of the driveway and was waiting for the deputies to arrive,” Lord said.
The 22-year-old son, Daniel H. Davis Jr., is in Miami County Jail and charged with aggravated murder, according to Chief Deputy Steve Lord.
The case will be presented to the Miami County Prosecuting Attorney for review.
The shooting remains under investigation.
