Both Miami and Clark Counties have more than 15 thousand people who have voted before election day.
These numbers include early-in-person votes and absentee mail-in votes.
Early voter Evan Dornbusch said that he wanted to cast his vote ahead of the election to get it out of the way.
“You know, in case something comes up, or any emergency happens, make sure to have it already under my belt,” he said.
Some voters said that they have recently started to lean away from identifying with one party.
Others have stressed the importance of voting and making sure people show up to the polls informed.
Devin and Chynne Bolden said that being first-time homeowners has made them research more in the upcoming election.
“Sometimes we’re looking into the property taxes and things that are changing within our community as homeowners. We work pretty closely in the school system, so things that are going on with our teachers and our educators and our students are important for us to research and make sure that we’re getting an understanding about,” Devin said.
The couple also said that for voters, it’s important to keep an open mind and to be informed on the issues that are being voted on.
“Hopefully in the future, the goal is to have that type of open space and safe space to be able to continue to have those conversations even when there are disagreements,” Chynne said.
In the 2022 Midterm Election, nearly 1.4 million early votes were cast across the state.
