The U.S. Marshals arrested 33-year-old Darrell Carter Jr. on Jan. 16 at a house in the 5600 block of Levi Kramer Boulevard for an active warrant out of Stark County, CBS affiliate WBNS reported.
The warrant was for failure to appear on an assault charge.
Carter told authorities that a dead woman was in the basement, according to court records.

Police found Chara Medlock dead.
Carter told detectives Medlock was an ex-girlfriend, according to court records.
He said that he found Medlock dead in a bedroom in the basement on the morning of Dec. 9, 2024.
He said he didn’t call the police because he had warrants, WBNS reported.
Carter then told authorities during the interview that he moved Medlock from his bed and placed her in another part of the basement, where he concealed her body under a deflated plastic pool and multiple air mattresses.
Records say that Carter told detectives he continued his daily activities because he believed police would eventually find Medlock.
Carter reportedly said he didn’t realize it would take that long for police to find and arrest him.
He was indicted on one count of abuse of a corpse.
Police have not said how Medlock died.
