OLEAN, NY — The University of Dayton men’s basketball team saw its three-game winning streak end Tuesday night in a 75-53 loss at St. Bonaventure Tuesday night.

This was Dayton’s worst loss ever to the Bonnies at the Reilly Center. They have not won in Olean, NY since 2021.

The game started back-and-forth as Enoch Cheeks’ three put UD ahead, 8-7 with 15:58 left in the first half. Zed Key converted on one of two fouls shots to give them an 11-10 advantage at the 13:54 mark.
The Bonnies outscored the Flyers, 14-2, over a stretch of three minutes to take control and lead, 24-13. St. Bonaventure led, 39-32 at halftime.
Javon Bennett opened the second half with a trey to cut the deficit to 39-35 with 19:40 remaining, but they never got closer.
The Bonnies went on a 16-1 scoring run over a seven-minute stretch and never looked back.
Nate Santos led UD with 12 points while Enoch Cheeks added 10. The Flyers shot 40 percent from the field, including 8-24 from three-point range.
Lajae Jones scored 23 points for the Bonnies as they made 51 percent of their shots. This was St. Bonaventure head coach Mark Schmidt’s 400th career win.
Dayton will look to rebound Friday night when they travel to Saint Louis. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
