DAYTON — The University of Dayton men’s basketball team kept its composure Tuesday night as they survived a near upset beating Davidson, 69-63, at the UD Arena.

The Wildcats took a 61-59 lead with 51 seconds left when a technical foul was called on Hunter Adam. It sent Javon Bennett to the foul line.
He made both free throws to tie the game at 61-61.
On the next possession, Enoch Cheeks inbounded the ball to Bennett. He drove to the hoop and got fouled on a layup.
Bennett converted on a three-point play to put Dayton ahead for good, 64-61, with 46 seconds remaining.

UD made five of six free throws in the final 33 seconds to seal the win.
Amaël L’Etang, Javon Bennett, and Nate Santos each scored 13 points to lead the Flyers. L’Etang grabbed 13 rebounds. Posh Alexander and Enoch Cheeks each added 10. Alexander dished led Dayton with five assists.
UD guard Malachi Smith missed the game due to illness.
The Flyers improve to 16-7 overall, and 6-4 in the Atlantic 10. They extend their winning streak over Davidson to 10 games.
Dayton’s next game is Friday night when they host VCU at 7 p.m.
