PITTSBURGH — The University of Dayton men’s basketball team could not miss from the outside Tuesday night.

The Flyers made 13 three-pointers, including nine in the first half, in an 82-62 win at Duquesne at UMPC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh.
Enoch Cheeks scored a game-high 23 points while junior Javon Bennett added 16. In his third start of the season, Amael L’Etang had a career-high 16 points.

UD never trailed as the teams exchanged three-pointers to start the game. Santos made two to put them up, 9-6. Jacob Conner knocked down a three to extend it to 20-11 with 10:36 left in the first half forcing the Dukes to call a timeout.
Duquesne got as close as 20-15 with 8:19 left until halftime, but Cheeks’ three-point play increased it to 23-15. The Flyers never looked back as they led, 44-25, at halftime.
Jack scored six straight points in the second half and L’Etang’s layup gave the Flyers their largest lead of the game, 66-36, with 9:49 left.
Nate Santos added nine points while Isaac Jack had eight. Both grabbed six rebounds to lead UD. Malachi Smith dished out nine assists.
Dayton shot 58 percent from the field (32-55) and 56 percent from beyond the arc.
UD won on what would have been Coach Don Donoher’s 93rd birthday. He passed away in April 2024.
This was also Dayton’s 300th Atlantic 10 win in its 30th season in the league.
The Flyers’ next game is Friday night when they host Saint Joseph’s at the UD Arena at 7:30 p.m.
