On Wednesday, Jan. 1, officials say Matthew Livelsberger, 37, drove a Cybertruck full of explosives to the outside of a Trump hotel, where the explosion injured seven people.

Officials said they believe Livelsberger shot himself just before the explosion.

According to officials, while the body found in the Cybertruck was badly burned, they do believe it is that of Livelsberger.

Livelsberger was an active-duty United States Army soldier and a member of the Army’s elite Green Berets, according to officials.

Livelsberger grew up in Crawford County and was the subject of several newspaper articles related to sports and his military service over the years, CBS affiliate WOIO uncovered.

Livelsberger graduated from Bucyrus High School in 2005. He played football and baseball there.

Summit County property records show Livelsberger purchased a home in 2019 on Curtis Avenue in Cuyahoga Falls, which he still owns.

Former neighbors in Stow told WOIO he bought the home for his mother, and property records state she lives in the home.

Larry and Ann Bemer said before Livelsberger’s mother moved to Cuyahoga Falls, she lived in the house they currently own.

They never met Matthew, but they knew her. “We were pretty shocked when we heard it this morning,” said Larry Bemer.

“His mom was a really nice person. She spoke highly of him when she lived here. She was really excited about the fact he was buying her a house when he got back,” Ann Bemer said of Livelsberger.
