Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garret were both named finalists for AP Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY). Other nominees include Eagles linebacker Zack Baun, Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II, and Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt.
Hendrickson led the league in sacks this year with 17.5 and was named AP All-Pro First Team.
Garrett is the reigning DPOY, making this the second consecutive season he’s been up for the honor. He finished the season just behind Hendrickson in sack totals with 14, becoming the first player in NFL history to record 14 or more sacks in four consecutive seasons, according to the Browns. He was also named to the AP All-Pro First Team.
