Bourbon Street Attack: Who are the victims killed in the attack?

NEW ORLEANS, LA — At least 15 people were killed and dozens more were injured in what the FBI is investigating as a terrorist attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.

Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, 42, has been identified as the suspect who drove a car into a crowd of people along Bourbon Street around 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Jabbar was shot and killed by officers after opening fire on them during the attack. Two New Orleans police officers were injured.

Tiger Bech, 27

A former Princeton University football player, Tiger Bech’s mother, Michelle Bech, told CBS News that her son moved to New York City after graduation to work for Seaport Global, a capital markets firm. She said her son was “on top of the world.”

Our sister station WSB TV in Atlanta reports that Bech said her son was in Louisiana for a weekend of hunting and fishing with college friends. He was scheduled to return to New York City on Wednesday.

Nikyra Cheynne Dedeaux, 18

Dedeaux’s mother confirmed to CBS News and in a social media post that she died after going to Bourbon Street to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

“I lost my baby just pray for me and my family pleaseeeeee!!,” her mother wrote on Facebook

Her mother told Nola.com that Nikyra was scheduled to begin a nursing program at Blue Cliff College on Jan. 13.

Reggie Hunter, 27

A father of two described as “the life of the party,” Hunter’s cousin confirmed his death to CBS News.

“He loved his kids, his sisters, and his daddy, all of us. He didn’t deserve this,” Shirell Jackson said.

Nicole Perez, 27

A mother who leaves behind a 4-year-old son, according to Kimberly Usher-Fall, her employer and family spokesperson.

Kimberly Usher Fall told CBS News that Perez was a dedicated worker, smart, happy, and a “good-hearted person.”
