As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00 and 6:00, officers were called to the Lowe’s on Martins Drive for reports of a dead body around 12:30 p.m.

A male was living in a tent in the wooded area behind the store, and his friend reported he was found dead, according to a Miami Township police spokesperson.

Matt Dolson told News Center 7′s Taylor Robertson on Tuesday that he goes to Lowes daily.

He said this is not a common place for unhoused people to camp out.

“I see it mainly downtown in those areas because it’s a lot more dense, but down here? No,” he said.

Damon Riegel was getting his car fixed on Tuesday when he saw police and media next to Lowe’s.

“It’s pretty sad, and while I was walking around Lowe’s, I was kind of thinking about it a little bit,” he told Robertson. “The idea that a human being can just go missing and pass away somewhere in public and go unnoticed. It is pretty sad.”

The death does not appear to be suspicious, but police are continuing to investigate.
