‘Are we gonna have any left?;’ Community concerned after another pharmacy announces closures

GREENE COUNTY — Another big pharmacy is closing its doors.

Walgreens has announced plans to close 1,200 stores nationwide.

Walgreens has not announced which locations are closing but shoppers said this did not come as a surprise.

Torie said she switched to Walgreens when Rite-Aid closed.

Now she’s worried she will have to do it again.

She said other pharmacy options are getting slim.

“I feel like they’re closing ... and I feel like there’s less and less pharmacies to go to and you’re stuck going to the big stores,” Torie said.

The mom of two isn’t the only one worried about these pharamcies closing.

“Are we gonna have any left? That’s what concerns me,” Pam said.

Walgreens reports low reimbursements for prescriptions while store operating costs increase, leading to nationwide downsizing.

“I’m not surprised, everything else is closing,” Lilana Brewer said.
