This intersection is just down the street from Snowhill Elementary School and Smart Start Academy West.
An initial investigation found that a Buick Cascada turned left onto N Plum Street and hit the boy crossing the street.
The crash report indicates the street light on W Harding Road turned green at the same time as the crosswalk.
Multiple other children were crossing the street at the time of the crash, according to the report.
The Buick didn’t slow down as it approached the intersection.
The report indicates that the driver slowed down after hitting the boy, but then left the crash scene “at a high rate of speed,” according to the report.
Medics took the boy to an area hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Officers eventually found the car involved but did not cite anyone as they couldn’t determine who the driver was.
