Upon arrival, medics discovered a vehicle hit a tree and the driver had been ejected.
The driver has been identified as 63-year-old Michael Ellis from Delaware. He was pronounced dead at the scene, OSHP said.
A preliminary investigation reveals that Ellis went south on State Route 54 when he reached the top of a hill, lost control of his vehicle, and went off the road. It hit a fence post, a sign, and a tree.
It was later determined that the 63-year-old man did not wear a seat belt at the time of the crash, OSHP stated.
State troopers found a dog inside the vehicle and appeared unharmed. It was aggressive to medics and taken into custody by the Clark County Dog Warden.
The crash remains under investigation.
