Tiara Bines, 24, and her 4-month-old son were reported missing by loved ones late Monday night.

Dayton Police and Fire crews were spotted on Tuesday morning searching near the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. Montgomery County dispatchers said that Dayton Fire Department crews were initially called to Stillwater River near Boonshoft after reports of a fresh break in the ice around 9:40 a.m. This prompted a water rescue response.

Major Brian Johns, of Dayton Police, said officers were also in the area because they received information that Bines and her son may have been in the area.

“There was a small hole in the ice, in the pond behind me. Dayton Fire was here with their water rescue to check that, so we’re trying to cover all of our bases and to try and locate this mother and son and make sure they’re okay,” Johns said.

Bines and her son were both found safe around 1 p.m. The child was taken to an area hospital to be checked out, but Bines was arrested, a spokesperson for Dayton Police confirmed.

Bines, whose arrest location was listed at the Triangleview apartment complex, was booked on suspicion of child endangering and inducing panic. As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, a spokesperson for Dayton Police confirmed charges will be presented to the prosecutor’s office.
