2 in custody after chase ends in crash on Rt. 4 in Dayton, police search area

DAYTON — Two people are in custody after a chase ended with a crash on Route 4 Monday afternoon.

Around 7 p.m. Dayton police were made aware of a chase involving a van that started in West Chester and made its way north on I-75 toward their area, according to Montgomery County regional dispatch.

It is not known what started the chase in West Chester.

Around 7:15 p.m., the van crashed into the guardrail on the eastbound side of Route 4 around Huffman Dam Road.

Video from the scene shows several cruisers surrounding the van.

A woman and man were taken into custody by police, according to dispatch. It is not known what charges they are facing.

Our News Center 7 crew reported seeing police searching in the area of Valley Street and deploying a drone.
