An investigation found that an Infiniti G37 was going over the train tracks in the area when they failed to yield to a Norfolk Southern train and were dragged around 200 yards.

TRENDING STORIES:

The driver of the Infiniti told police they did not see the cross bars or flashing lights indicating that a train was coming, according to a Springfield police crash report.

The 20-year-old driver of the car suffered minor injuries, while their 16-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries.

News Center 7 reached out to Norfolk Southern for further information but we were told by a spokesperson to refer questions to local police.

The driver of the Infiniti was not cited because they and the conductor of the Norfolk Southern train were “uncooperative in the investigation of the manner of the crash,” according to the crash report.

We are working to learn the conditions of both injured and what led up to the crash.

We will continue to follow this story.
