Officials told WOIO-19 that the incident occurred in the 17000 block of Fulton Road in Marshallville around 10:40 a.m.

A child saw the accident and told family members, according to firefighters.

“The five year-old came off the ice and he heard a scream. He turned around and looked and saw the 16 year old brother in the water,” Wayne County Sheriff Tom Ballinger told WOIO-19.

Good was underwater for 10 minutes before first responders arrived on scene, WOIO-19 reported.

“It is scary because we know that person is in the middle of the pond. So it is probably the deepest part of the pond. So, we know that time is not on our side,” Ballinger said.

The Wooster Township Fire Department Dive Team recovered the teen, but it is unclear how long he was in the water beforehand.

“They were phenomenal. Worked well as a team to rescue the victim,” Ballinger told WOIO-19. “They do extensive training with this type of stuff.”

Dive team members performed life-saving measures, including CPR, before medics transported Good to an area hospital.

The teen was transferred to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he died.

Good’s death was ruled accidental by the medical examiner.
