As reported on News Center 7 at 5:30, 15-year-old Jasper Tall was nearly asleep, listening to music on his bus ride to Community STEM Academy in Xenia.
“I realized we stopped. The bus driver she kept on saying ‘hey buddy, wake up,’” Tall said.
Jasper said he woke up when the bus stopped and the driver called him to the front.
“I go to the right side of the window and I see some dude just lying there,” Tall.
It was an unconscious student lying on the ground at the bus stop.
Tall said the driver didn’t know whether to get off the bus and leave students or stay and wait for law enforcement.
“I said I can go do whatever she needs me to do. Then I checked his pulse. Then I rolled him on his side so he could breathe,” he said.

Tall said he did feel a pulse and stayed with him while others waited for help.
“The officer got there. I let him take over, obviously, and then waited there for about two or three minutes and got back on the bus,” Tall said.
He said he’s never seen anything like what happened Wednesday morning.
“‘Did you feel prepared for that? No. Not really,” Tall said.
Chief Administrative Officer for the school, Dr. Jeremy Ervin, said he wasn’t surprised that Tall stepped up.
“Yeah, that’s kind of certainly as a person, that his personality, really,” Ervin said.
“I felt good that I could have helped and made sure and make sure that kid was all right,” Tall said.
News Center 7 reached out to both schools and their transportation department for an update on the unconscious student, but have not received any new information.
We will continue to follow this story.
