On Saturday, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb asked anyone with information to contact police.
“Our children deserve to grow up safe,” Bibb said.
“This is a tragedy that should never happen, and we owe it to this child — and every child — to do more, to be better, and to demand a world where kids can grow up without fear and violence. As we grieve, we also seek justice. I am calling on anyone who has information about this shooting to come forward. If you saw something, if you know something — please do the right thing,” he said.
Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy “Annie” Todd condemned the violence.
“This senseless act of violence has stolen the life of an innocent child, and my heart goes out to the family in this unimaginable time of grief. Any death in our city is devastating; however, the loss of a child due to violence is inexplicable. One thing I know for certain, we will be relentless in finding who is responsible,” Todd said.
The Cleveland Police Department Homicide Unit is investigating this shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call (216) 623-5464.
