Police found one person with a gunshot wound.

A Dayton officer confirmed to News Center 7 around 8:30 p.m. that the person shot had died.

A 911 caller told dispatchers that they heard a gunshot, then saw two people running.

The caller told dispatchers that there are three men; one of them is on the ground.

“There’s a guy that is definitely shot,” the caller said.

After removing crime tape from Huffman Avenue, police focused their investigation on a residence a few doors away on Centre Street.

Officers spent nearly 30 minutes asking for permission to search inside the house, but the woman living there refused.

Following the refusal, an officer at the scene on Centre Street notified the resident of the next steps.

“We’re going to petition for a search warrant; what that means is nobody in or out of your house, including yourself,” the police officer said.

Police eventually ordered the woman to step outside the residence.

Officers detained the woman and two men, placing them into police cruisers.

The Dayton Police Department did not confirm whether formal arrests were made or whether the individuals are considered suspects in the shooting.
