FAQ: WHIO TV & Radio

WHIO TV & Radio

Q: I am hearing Spanish language or sound on Channel 7 that is not matching with what’s happening on the screen. What should I do?

A: Every TV set has something called “Second Audio Channel,” or SAP that is designed for people who speak Spanish or those who are sight impaired. You might have clicked the button by mistake. Check your remote control for a button that says SAP or “Second Audio” and press it until you hear normal sound. You may have to click the button a few times. If you’re still having problems, you can easily Google your TV brand and “SAP” and find out how to disable it.

Q: I watch Channel 7 with an antenna and either the station is blanking off and on, or not coming in at all. What should I do?

A: We get this question quite often, so you’re not alone. Sometimes your antenna may not be positioned correctly, has been moved or some of your connections are loose. First check all of them and try moving your antenna higher up and as close to a window as possible. Then “rescan” your TV channels. Did you know that just rescanning your TV for local channels may fix this problem most of the time? You may have to try your antenna in a few places.

Q: I am looking for a TV antenna. What should I do?

A: You can purchase great ones in many places now including Target, Walmart and your local Best Buy. Antenna’s Direct sells the top rated indoor model for under $40. You can even find good ones cheaper, down to about $15.

See this link for what’s regarded as the top rated indoor TV antenna that’s the size of your ipad.

Q: I watch Channel 7 with a cable TV provider and it’s not coming in. What should I do?

A: Most of the time this is an issue with your provider. A little troubleshooting could go a long way. First check to see if you can receive other stations. If so, that means your service is working but there may be a problem with Channel 7. If you’re still having problems, we encourage you to call your TV provider. They may not be even aware there’s a problem, so reporting it helps everyone!
