Bellbrook police officer holds fundraiser to put winter gear in every cruiser

BELLBROOK — A Bellbrook officer wanted to make a difference after she found a child wandering in the cold.

Officer Alexi Stout has been with the Bellbrook Police Department for three years.

After a child was found in the community wandering in the cold without winter clothing, Officer Stout made a post on Facebook, asking people to donate blankets and winter coats.

She wanted to have Bellbrook officers have these on hand during calls.

“From day one, after making that post, people not only dropped off gently used items, people went out and bought out the blanket section from Target, got on Amazon and had things shipped directly to our department,” said Officer Stout. “The community really showed up for us.”

Quality Dry Cleaners in Bellbrook agreed to clean any gently used items, free of charge.

The goods were then boxed up and ready for the road.

“Each cruiser will be outfitted with a blanket, an adult coat, and a child’s coat.” said Officer Stout.

The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Community Support Center will donate stuffed animals.
