Amber Jenkins
Reporter/Multimedia Journalist
Connecting with communities and informing them are my biggest passions as a reporter. It gives me pride to be seen as transparent and accountable within the communities I serve. Growing up in a small town (Raeford, North Carolina), I learned how impactful a strong voice is while finding my own. I’m excited to grow my skills, voice, and knowledge at WHIO.
I spent my college years in the Appalachian mountains at Western Carolina University and graduated with double concentrations in Broadcasting and Journalism with a minor in Computer Information Systems in 2022. At WCU, I worked in the IT department repairing computers, hosted a classic rock radio show, and took photos as the school’s photographer.
I started my TV career as a multimedia journalist at a CBS affiliate in Joplin, Missouri. While covering 4 states area news, I developed a passion for broadcast news. I covered a wide range of stories to build my reporting skills. It was my first time living in the Midwest also.
Now I am in Dayton and very excited to start serving the community alongside the WHIO team! My passion for transparent storytelling will easily fit into the newsroom. Whenever I’m not working, I’m spending time with my chihuahua, at the gym, or chatting it up with my mom.
