University of Dayton football program adds two new staff members

DAYTON — The University of Dayton football program announced Tuesday two new members for the upcoming season. Dayton head coach Rick Chamberlin said the two new additions who were part of the Flyer program during their undergraduate days are back as staff members; wide receivers coach Sam Constantino and Director of Football Operations, Jake Speller.

Costantino was a wideout at Dayton from 2016-2019. He got his coaching start while playing at UD serving as a wide receiver intern at his high school alma mater, Immaculata High School, in Somerville, NJ in the summer of 2017 and was a football operations intern at Rutgers during the summers of 2018 and 2019.

Costantino graduated from UD in 2020 with a degree in Marketing and had stops at Westminster College, serving as the the corners coach and co-special teams coordinator in the spring and fall of 2020. At Eastern Illinois, he was offensive quality control and assistant wide receivers coach in the fall of 2020 and winter of 2021 and then move on to Ball where he was a graduate assistant for the 2021 season.

Speller graduated from Dayton in 2021 majoring in Sport Management and minors in both Mathematics and Business Administration. During his four years as a student at UD, he worked as a student equipment manager, head video coordinator and assistant to the director of football operations for the Dayton Flyer football team. Speller served as the head video coordinator for Southeast Missouri State from June 2021 to March 2022.

The Dayton Flyers announced the upcoming 2022 schedule on Monday. They went 6-4 overall last season, including 5-3 in the PFL. You can hear every game on the home of the Flyers; 1290 and 95-7, WHIO.
