CHICAGO — Former Ohio State standout Justin Fields is making his return to Ohio this week, and when he does he’ll be his team’s starting quarterback.
Chicago Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy announced Fields will be the team’s starter for their Week 3 game at Cleveland. Fields got the nod following an injury to Andy Dalton in last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Fields replaced Dalton in the first half of last week’s game against the Bengals after Dalton suffered a knee injury. Fields would lead the Bears to a 20-17 win.
“When Andy is healthy, he’s our starter,” Nagy said during a news conference Wednesday.
Fields makes his return to Ohio following a stellar career in Columbus including a 20-2 record, back-to-back appearances for the Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff, a National Championship Game berth. He finished his time with the Buckeyes with over 5,000 passing yards in just two seasons, good for 10th in program history, and 63 touchdowns, which is second in program history.
The Bears and Browns face off at 1 p.m. Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.
