DAYTON — In front of a sellout crowd at the UD Arena Tuesday night, the Dayton Flyers beat the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in impressive fashion, 68-50.

DaRon Holmes II and Koby Brea each scored a career-high 20 points while Kobe Elvis added 14. Malachi Smith had six points and dished out 12 assists, Toumani Camara and Holmes each grabbed seven rebounds. The Flyers won their fourth game in a row to improve to 12-6 overall, 4-1 in the Atlantic 10.

Elvis buried a three-pointer to give Dayton a 7-2 but the Bonnies responded with a 15-5 run to go up, 17-12. Jalen Adaway scored 14 of those points and Dominick Welch capped the run with a steal and dunk to put them up five points.

Dayton responded as Brea’s trey with eight minutes left in the first half put UD ahead for good, 23-21. Holmes had the play of the game blocking Welch’s three-point attempt, grabbing the miss and going the other way for a slam dunk to put the Flyers ahead, 25-21. Dayton ended the first half with a three by Brea to increase the lead to 35-23.

The University of Dayton honored longtime broadcast, Arlen, “Bucky,” Bockhorn throughout the game and with a video tribute at halftime.

Adaway’s layup in the second got the Bonnies to within eight points, 39-31. But that’s as close as they got as Elvis made two treys to increase it to 47-33. The Flyer maintained a solid double digit lead throughout the rest of the game as Brea capped the night with a three-pointer with 1:10 to play.
