‘Deshaun is going to come in and be Deshaun;’ Browns add QB Deshaun Watson to active roster

BEREA — The Cleveland Browns officially added quarterback Deshaun Watson to its active roster Monday after being suspended the first 11 games of the season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

The Browns waived back-up quarterback Joshua Dobbs to make room for Watson, according to a team spokesperson.

The Browns acquired Watson from the Texans during the off-season in exchange for draft picks.

Watson has been able to practice with the team since Nov. 14 and is expected to start Sunday against his former team, the Houston Texans, at NRG Stadium in Houston.

“Deshaun is going to come in and be Deshaun,” said Amari Cooper, Browns wide receiver. “We’ve seen that greatness on display a multitude of times. You kind of are who you are — it’s not like he’s just gonna deviate from being that great player.”

Cleveland is coming off a 23-17 over win over Tampa Bay Sunday.

They are 4-7 and still alive for the playoffs but have a thin margin for error.

Kickoff between the Browns and Texans is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The game will be televised on Channel 7 and broadcast on WHIO Radio.
