Browns WR earns weekly honor for his special teams play against Houston

BEREA — Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones has earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his play in Sunday’s, 27-14, win over the Houston Texans.

He returned three punts for 86 yards, including a 76-yard punt return for a touchdown with 3:41 left in the first half to put the Browns up, 7-5.

It was the team’s first punt return for a touchdown since September 20, 2015 and only the second punt return for a touchdown in the NFL this season, the team said.

Peoples-Jones also had three catches for 44 yards.

Cleveland became the first team with two defensive touchdowns and a special teams touchdown in a game since Week 11 of the 2014 season.

Peoples-Jones is the second Brown to be named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Cade York won it for his play in Week 1.

Cleveland’s next game will be Sunday, December 11, when they play their in-state rival, Cincinnati Bengals, at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati. It is the second game of “The Battle of Ohio.”

Cleveland won the first game, 32-13, on October 31 at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Browns are winners of five straight games over the Bengals.
